Report of Stranding
What types of information can be obtained from a dead dolphin?
Upon receiving a report of stranding, AFCD will organize a working team
to the site to collect measurement and tissue samples of the stranded
animal as soon as possible.
Depending on the level of decomposition, samples of skin, blubber, liver,
kidney, stomach, reproductive organs, skull and teeth will be collected
for studying the cause of death and the life history (including feeding
habitat, growth and reproduction, ecotoxicology and stock structure) of
the animal.
