Coral reefs are highly productive systems, which support a diverse assemblage
of marine flora and fauna. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation
Department has put in place a suite of measures and programmes to protect
and conserve the coral communities in Hong Kong. Key areas include:
- Education and publicity
- Monitoring and studies
- Reduce coral damage caused by boating
and recreational activities
- Scientific database
- Designation of protected areas
