Three species of Astropecten starfish are known from local waters. These starfish are adapted for living on sand by having pointed tube feet with no sucker.

 

   

Only one species of Pentaceraster has previously been recorded from Hong Kong. This individual might be newly recorded in Hong Kong waters.

Ophidiaster starfish have a small disc with long, more or less cylindrical arms. It is found on shallow rocky reefs in local waters.
