Hong Kong Reef Check 2000

Background

Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department completed the 2000 Reef Check Survey and the condition of coral communities in 15 sites were recorded. Coral cover of these sites ranged from 2.5% to 57.5%. Most of the sites with high coral cover were recorded at Port Shelter and northeastern part of Hong Kong waters. Coral conditions of all 15 sites are in general stable with some sites showing slight improvement in coral cover.
