Description:
Black-spotted Gudgeon has a dorsally-compressed head but laterally-compressed caudal part. The body is deepest at the first dorsal fin origin. There are several thin horizontal lines along the mid-lateral part of the body. The fish is dark overall with 1 to 2 dark spots on the base of pectoral fin. Its flattened shovel-like snout distinguishes it from other gudgeons.
