Description: This slender and laterally compressed cyprinid fish has an elongated body and pointed head. Terminal mouth is slit slightly upwards and without barbel. Its caudal fin is somewhat between forked and truncated. The body is covered by large scales which are black margined. It has a green back and silvery white sides and belly with a distinct black band on the central axis of its body running along the body from operculum to the base of caudal peduncle.
