Marine Parks Management

Zoning Management System and Facilities

In compliance with the conservation objective of marine parks, activities inside the marine parks must be monitored and regulated. Inside a marine park or marine reserve, operation of a power-driven vessel is limited at a speed not exceeding 10 knots at any time. Besides, Zoning Plan is one of the effective management measures to achieve the multiple-function purpose of marine parks. Marine parks facilities are installed to guide marine park users to follow the zoning management system effectively. Regular maintenance and replacement of marine parks facilities is one of our important works to make sure all our facilities are in the best condition.

Zoning types Purpose and (location)

The boundary post is a metallic pole of alternate red and white colour that erected on the coast. A straight line joining the boundary light buoy and boundary post marks the seaward boundary of the marine park. These facilities remind the visitors and park users of the ordinance and regulation when they enter marine park.
Marine Park Information Board A wooden roof-top information board shows the map of marine park and other information.
Mooring Buoy A green floating buoy with a metallic ring on top is installed near the coral area for temporary fixing of small vessels without the need to anchor. This is a measure to prevent damaging on corals from anchoring activities.
