CLOSURE OF CORAL BEACH IN HOI HA WAN MARINE PARK

(Notice made under Section 16(1) and (6))

Notice is hereby given under Section 16(6) of the Marine Parks and Marine Reserves Regulation (Cap. 476A) (“the Regulation”) that, in exercise of the powers under Section 16(1) of the Regulation, the Authority prohibits the entry of all persons and vessels into the designated area at Coral Beach (“the Area”), which is shown on the map in the Schedule hereto and demarcated on site by the high watermark and the red boundary buoys of the “Mechanized Vessels Prohibited Zone” at Coral Beach, from 1.5.2008 to 30.10.2008 (both dates inclusive).

The objectives of prohibiting the entry of all persons and vessels into the Area is for the protection of corals by reducing human activities and impact in the Area. 

Any person who acts in breach of the prohibition shall be liable on conviction to a fine at HK$ 25,000 and to imprisonment for one year.
