"Ocean protection starts with us" web banner design competition invites entries

A web banner design competition organised by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) to promote marine conservation opened for entries today (September 1).

With a theme of "Ocean protection starts with us", the competition aims at promoting and enhancing public awareness and understanding of marine conservation.

An AFCD spokesman said, "The ocean is the cradle of life. It supports 80 per cent of life on Earth and is a natural environment vital to human survival. We therefore call upon the public to give practical support to the protection of the marine environment and resources."

The competition is divided into six groups, namely a junior primary group (Primary 1-3), a senior primary group (Primary 4-6), a junior secondary group (Secondary 1-3), a senior secondary group (Secondary 4-6), a family group (Primary 1-6 students and their parents) and an open group (Hong Kong residents aged 16 or above).

Contents of the entries must be related to marine conservation. The graphic design can be in any shape measuring 9 centimetres x 28cm at the largest and done with any kind of drawing tool. For works produced by computer, a digital file must be submitted together with the print copy.

Entries should be delivered to the Marine Conservation Division (East), Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, 7/F, Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices, 303 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon, or submitted through the school of the entrant. Please mark on the envelope "'Ocean protection starts with us' Web Banner Design Competition". The deadline for entry submission is April 24, 2015. Entries received by mail will be dated by postmark.
