Pet adoption event to be held this weekend
Wednesday, May 18, 2016

A two-day pet adoption event will be held at the Sky Dome Atrium, Level 1, D‧PARK Shopping Centre, Tsuen Wan, from noon to 7pm this weekend (May 21 and 22). Admission is free.

Jointly organised by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD), Cheung Chau Animal Care, Hong Kong Cats, the Hong Kong Rabbit Society, the Hong Kong Society of Herpetology Foundation, Lifelong Animal Protection, the Society for Abandoned Animals and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the event seeks to encourage people to adopt abandoned or unclaimed animals and promote responsible pet ownership.

At the event, members of the public can meet cats, rabbits and reptiles that are up for adoption and receive tips on keeping such animals at the counter offering an animal adoption enquiry service. Other activities include game booths and educational exhibitions. To avoid causing stress to small animals, dogs are not allowed to enter the venue.

The AFCD encourages members of the public who are interested in keeping a pet to adopt abandoned or surrendered animals through animal welfare organisations. Currently, abandoned pets or unclaimed animals with a friendly temperament and good health will be sent to partner animal welfare organisations for adoption. Free desexing operations will be offered for dogs, cats and rabbits when they are adopted.

For details of the event, please read the attached poster or visit
