EXPORT OF PRODUCTS OF ANIMAL ORIGIN

In order to assist local exporters in meeting veterinary health requirements of the importing countries/places, this Department provides the issue of Sanitary Certificate to facilitate the export of animal products.

 

HOW TO APPLYapply

  • An application must be submitted on the Sanitary Certificate for Products of Animal Origin Form (510KB)  e-Form . Downloading of the forms for viewing and printing can be done through the use of the Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) Reader software which is available free at the Adobe Systems Incorporated website.

  • Or submit the completed e-fillable application form by enquiry email.
  • Fees must be paid at the time of application. Fees are charged in accordance with the Fees Schedule.

  • Application should be submitted at least 7 working days prior to the expected date of inspection. 

  • Inspection must be made by a departmental officer before the issue of  Sanitary Certificate.

  • If all the health requirements are met and the related documents are made available, the issue of Sanitary Certifcate takes 3 working days to process from the date of inspection.

 

Note: If the animal species and their parts or derivatives to be exported are controlled under the Protection of Endangered Species of Animals and Plants Ordinance, Cap. 586, the exporter must also apply appropriate CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) export permit from this Department.

 •The period of validity of the sanitary certificate will depend on the regulations of the destination country / place.

Or submit the completed e-fillable application form by enquiry email.

 

OFFICE HOURS

Office hours: Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 noon, 1:30 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.

(Close on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.)

 

PROCESSING PERIOD

If all requirements are met and the related documents are made available, the processing time is three working days from the date of inspection.
