About VLD

Welcome to the Veterinary Laboratory Division

The mission of the Veterinary Laboratory Division (VLD) is to provide the government and private sectors with veterinary laboratory testing services in the following disciplines - anatomical pathology, microbiology, immunology, molecular biology and chemical residue testing. The VLD has two laboratories, namely Tai Lung Veterinary Laboratory and Sheung Shui Branch Laboratory, which are accredited under the veterinary testing program of NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities), Australia. We provide surveillance and diagnostic services consistent with best-in-world standards that meet the needs of the government, livestock, poultry and aquaculture industries and veterinary practitioners.

The VLD operates in four structural units:
