Hong Kong has 24 country parks enclosing over 43,000 hectares or 430 square kilometers, which is almost 40 per cent of our land area. |

The country parks showcase the territory's ecology, natural habitats, flora and fauna. And they offer enormous benefits to people, offering beautiful scenery, rural heritage, recreation and nature based experiences. |

There are currently four marine parks and one marine reserve covering over 2 439 hectares of Hong Kong water. |

Hong Kong has 84 species of stony coral and 64 of these species may be found at Tung Ping Chau Marine Park. |

The Hong Kong Wetland Park is a world-class facility for nature conservation, education and eco-tourism. |

The Wetland Park has received over 15 locals and international awards on architecture, environmental design as well as land uses granted by professional organizations including the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, Institute of Landscape Architects of the United Kingdom, and the Urban Land Use Institute of USA. |

The Wetland Park has recorded over 210 species of birds, 40 species of dragonflies, 130 species of butterflies and other wild animals and aquatic plants. Hong Kong's crocodile celebrity: "Pui Pui" also lives in the Park. |

The Hong Kong National Geopark covers about 50km2 land area in Hong Kong. It includes two regions covering eight geo-areas in the eastern part of Hong Kong, each with unique geological features. |

The Sai Kung Volcanic Rock Region displays spectacular hexagonal volcanic rock columns, which are considered world class both in terms of size and coverage. |

|
The Northeast New Territories Sedimentary Rock Region represents the most comprehensive stratigraphy of sedimentary rocks in Hong Kong, ranging from Devonian sandstone and conglomerate of about 400 million years of age to Tertiary siltstone of 65 million years old. |
