Endangered Species Resource Centre will be temporarily closed for renovation from 12 December to 23 December 2011.

Do you know that some species of animals and plants are threatened by international trade? What can you do to help protect these endangered species?

To find out more about endangered species, please visit the Endangered Species Resource Centre which occupies an area of about 1,700 square feet and is located on the sixth floor of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department headquarters at Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices. Previously, the room was used to keep specimens of endangered species confiscated from enforcement actions.

The Centre was opened in May 2001 to help promote public awareness on endangered species protection. It has some 600 specimens of about 200 endangered species on display, including various kinds of fur skins, leather products, Chinese medicines, plants and live pets, and is composed of 10 theme areas.

When you visit the Endangered Species Resource Centre, you can borrow audio guide system at no charge to guide you round the different theme areas at your own pace and interest. You can also learn about the interesting information of endangered species, such as habit and special features, through the self-guiding audio system. Do you want to know what food Iguanas eat or which animal produces a baby-crying sound? Then come to our centre and explore!

Visit Application and Opening Hours

GROUP APPLICATION
Monday to Friday (Except on public holidays) : 10:00 a.m. -12:00 noon
2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Guided tours are provided for groups with advance booking.
Booking:

Advance booking is required on a first-come-first-served basis. Each visit is limited to 25 persons.

To book a guided tour, interested parties are advised to contact our staff at 2150 6974 / 2150 6979 to check the available date. Applicants should then fill in the application form and submit it by fax 2376 3749 or mail to ESPD 5/F, Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices, 303 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong.

 

INDIVIDUALS
Friday (Except on public holidays) : 2:00 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.
Open to public and advance booking is not required.
The maximum capacity of the Centre is 30 persons and visitors may need to wait if this limit is exceeded. If you or your organization plans to visit the centre in a large group, please inform us or book in advance (Tel: 2150 6974 / 2150 6979). We will arrange the visit accordingly.
