Don't feed wild animals

It is illegal to feed monkeys

The feeding of monkeys (and other wild animals) is banned under the Wild Animals Protection Ordinance at the following places:

  1. Lion Rock Country Park
  2. Kam Shan Country Park
  3. Shing Mun Country Park
  4. Tai Mo Shan Country Park (Part of)
  5. Tai Po Kau Special Area

Feeding monkeys causes problems

  • Unnatural and rapid growth in monkey population
  • Many monkeys losing their natural fear of humans
  • Monkeys attracted to areas popular to visitors and cause nuisance t humans
  • Monkeys become aggressive to visitors and threaten them for food

Any person who contravenes the ban is liable to a maximum fine of $10,000.
