Agricultural Officer

Pay Scale: Master Pay Scale Point 27 ($55,995 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 44 ($110,170 per month) 

Entry Requirements: 
a. A Hong Kong first or second class honours degree in an appropriate subject in Applied or Natural Science, Agricultural Economics, Economics, or equivalent;
b. 3 years’ post-graduate experience in an appropriate field or a Hong Kong higher degree or post-graduate diploma in an appropriate subject in Applied or Natural Science, or equivalent; and
c. ‘Level 1’ results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE).  A pass result in the Aptitude Test in the CRE is also required.

Duties : Undertake research or advisory work in horticulture such as greenhouse production technology, organic cultivation, farm production and crop nutrition; or in plant protection or livestock husbandry; implement relevant agricultural regulations and quarantine work; conduct studies or research work in agricultural economics, development and extension; and undertake wholesale food market planning and management.

 


Fisheries Officer

Pay Scale: Master Pay Scale Point 27 ($55,995 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 44 ($110,170 per month)

Entry Requirements:
a. A Hong Kong first or second class honours degree in an appropriate subject in Applied or Natural Science, or equivalent;
b. 3 years’ post-graduate experience in an appropriate field or a Hong Kong higher degree or post-graduate diploma in an appropriate subject in Applied or Natural Science, or equivalent; and
c. ‘Level 1’ results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE).  A pass result in the Aptitude Test in the CRE is also required.

Duties : Perform planning, management, enforcement, research, development, credit, training, advisory, extension and environmental work relating to capture fisheries, aquaculture and fish market; and planning, management, enforcement, education, advisory, research, development and environmental impact assessment work relating to marine conservation, marine parks and marine reserves.

 

 


 

Forestry Officer

Pay Scale: Master Pay Scale Point 27 ($55,995 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 44 ($110,170 per month)

Entry Requirements:
a. A first or second class honours degree in an appropriate subject in Applied or Natural Science from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent;
b. 3 years’ post-graduate experience in an appropriate field or a higher degree or post-graduate diploma in an appropriate subject in Applied or Natural Science from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent; and
c. ‘Level 1’ results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE).  A pass result in the Aptitude Test in the CRE is also required. 

Duties: Perform forestry and vegetation management work; plan, manage, develop and protect Country Parks, Hong Kong Geopark, Hong Kong Wetland Park and Special Areas; undertake fauna, flora, endangered species, geological and landscape conservation work, including law enforcement, education and advisory duties, and ecological baseline studies; assess and monitor ecological aspects of environmental impact assessment process; and undertake applied research in various related disciplines.

 

 

 

 

 


Veterinary Officer

Pay Scale: Master Pay Scale Point 31 ($67,295 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 44 ($110,170 per month)
Entry Requirements:
a. A veterinary qualification registrable in Hong Kong under the Veterinary Surgeons Registration Ordinance, Cap. 529; and  
b. Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.


Duties : Undertake investigation, diagnosis, control and prevention of animal diseases and zoonoses; monitor and enhance animal welfare; inspect animals and animal products for import and export; and perform licensing and enforcement of relevant legislation.

 

 


 Field Officer II

Pay Scale: Master Pay Scale Point 8 ($21,340 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 21 ($42,545 per month)
Field Officer II posts are divided into four different work streams.

 

 

Crop stream and Livestock stream

 

 

 

Entry Requirements:
a. A diploma or higher certificate in Natural or Applied Science or a related subject from a Hong Kong polytechnic/polytechnic university or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education/technical institute/technical college, or equivalent; or  
b. a recognised diploma from an agricultural or forestry school/college, or equivalent, and one year’s practical experience in farming or countryside/flora/wildlife management; and
c. Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) or equivalent.


Duties: Crop stream: Perform duties relating to crop production, plant protection, irrigation, licensing and law enforcement, yield assessment, and extension work.
Livestock stream: Perform duties relating to livestock production and wildlife conservation work; carry out health and husbandry surveys; and undertake related regulatory duties and extension work.

 


Conservation and Country Parks stream

Entry Requirements :
a. A diploma or higher certificate in Management Studies, Natural Science or a related subject from a Hong Kong polytechnic/polytechnic university or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education/technical institute/technical college, or equivalent; or
b. a recognised diploma from an agricultural or forestry school/college, or equivalent, and one year’s practical experience in countryside/flora/wildlife management; and
c. Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) or equivalent.


Duties : Perform duties relating to licensing and law enforcement duties in the conservation and management of the countryside; undertake field survey, training, visitor service and educational work.

 


Management stream

Entry Requirements :
a. A diploma or higher certificate in Management Studies; Natural Science or a related subject from a Hong Kong polytechnic/ polytechnic university or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education/technical institute/technical college, or equivalent; or
b. a recognised diploma from an agricultural or economic school/college, or equivalent, and one year’s practical experience in farming, fishery management or marketing; and
c. Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) or equivalent.


Duties : Perform duties relating to planning, development and management of wholesale food markets; collecting market information, food supply and agricultural statistics; undertaking agricultural extension and development duties; examining farm management practices and administer loans.

 

 

 


 

Fisheries Supervisor II

Pay Scale: Master Pay Scale Point 8 ($21,340 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 21 ($42,545 per month)


Entry Requirements :
a. A diploma or higher certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Management Studies, Applied Science or a related subject from a Hong Kong polytechnic/polytechnic university or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education/technical college/technical institute or equivalent; or
b. a recognised diploma from a post-secondary fisheries school or college, or equivalent, and one year’s post-qualification practical experience; and
c. Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) or equivalent


Duties : Assist in general fisheries development and extension work; processing and investigating fisheries related applications; education and fishermen training; conducting field surveys and compiling data; and performing licensing and law enforcement work relating to fisheries, marine parks and marine conservation.

 


Fisheries Technical Officer II

Pay Scale: Master Pay Scale Point 8 ($21,340 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 21 ($42,545 per month)

 
Entry Requirements :
a. A diploma or certificate for Laboratory Technicians or in Applied Science or a related subject from a Hong Kong polytechnic / polytechnic university or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education / technical college / technical institute, or equivalent;
b. 3 years’ practical experience in biological laboratories or 3 years’ relevant working experience in fisheries and marine conservation; and
c. Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) or equivalent.


Duties : Perform duties related to fish specimen collection and identification; fisheries field studies, surveys, inspections and laboratory analysis; development and extension of fisheries technologies; management and operation of experimental fish farms; supervision of ecological monitoring contracts; marine conservation education; and management of marine parks.

 


Co-operative Supervisor II

Pay Scale: Master Pay Scale Point 8 ($21,340 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 21 ($42,545 per month)

 
Entry Requirements :
a. A diploma or higher certificate in Accounting issued by recognised examination authority, or equivalent;
b. 3 years’ accounting or auditing experience in a firm of professional accountants and auditors, or a commercial firm, or a banking institution; and
c. Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.


Duties : Supervise the operation and accounts of urban co-operative societies and credit unions, including attendance at their general and committee meetings; assist in co-operative training; advise the formation of urban co-operative societies and credit unions; and conduct audit/ examination of the accounts of co-operative societies and credit unions.
