The first top dressing of compound fertilizer (N:P:K:Mg = 12:12:17:2) should be applied 4 days after transplanting at the rate of 30 kg/d.c. Ten days later, apply the second top dressing of compound fertilizer at the rate of 45 kg/d.c. After harvesting the main stalks, apply one more top dressing of compound fertilizer at the rate of 45 kg/d.c. to enhance the growth of the side shoots for further harvesting.

Maintaining adequate supply of water and nutrients as well as keeping a proper level of calcium, magnesium and boron in soil. Light ploughing, weeding and earthing-up are done at each top dressing.
