Amid our vibrant city, myriads of wildlife thrive at our doorstep. With our city nested between hills and seas, nature is our wonderful neighbour and our bonding is inseparable. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and over 30 partner organisations joined hands to promote Hong Kong’s biodiversity to the public. In 2023, the theme of our education programme was “Nature in Our Neighbourhood”, inviting citizens to explore the wonderful biodiversity within urban spaces, and co-exist with nature.

A wide variety of events related to biodiversity were promoted on the online platform, including events celebrating the first “National Ecology Day”.

The Department organised “Nature in our Neighbourhood” Exhibition, to invite citizens to explore the wondrous biodiversity within our city, get to know our myriad animal and plant neighbours and live in harmony with nature. This exhibition, where science meets art, showcased over 100 local nature collections, including lifelike animal and plant specimens.
