Description:
Similar to other species in Cichlidae, the Redbelly Tilapia has laterally compressed and high-backed body with a long dorsal fin and a truncated tail. The anterior portion of the dorsal fin is heavily spined. The fish generally has a greyish green body and a red belly with two horizontal stripes and 6 to 7 dark vertical bars on its sides.
