Description:
The largest insectivorous bat in Hong Kong, with wingspan over 40cm; the pelage has two color phases: brown and grayish brown, but it is darker above and paler below; eyes are small and ears are large with low antitragi; the noseleaf is relatively more complex, there is a fleshy elevation behind the posterior leaf: males have a well developed frontal depression and there is a tuft of black hair that can be erected at will, but it is less developed in females.
