Description: A common macaque in Hong Kong; pelage is grayish-brown to golden brown, with strong reddish tinge to hind quarters; pinkish face and rump; infants are born brownish yellow; distinctive head shape; both eyes are on the front of the face; hair on the top of the head is short; short tail of 40 to 60% of its head-to-body length; presence of cheek pouches to store food for later consumption.

Distribution
Distribution in Hong Kong

  • Afghanistan and India to North Thailand, and China.
