Sesarma (Perisesarma) bidens is the most common mangrove crab in Hong Kong. Its squared-shaped, pale green carapace is about 2-3 cm wide. They have red chelipeds and deep green legs. They inhabit intertidal zone to high tide mark. They often forage around the roots of mangrove trees, feeding mainly on fallen leaves and fruits. |
