Non-Governmental Organisations participated in PEP
Since 2016, 7 NGOs have been participating in PEP and about 22 hectares of plantations have been adopted for biodiversity enhancement. The NGOs are committed to take up site preparation, tree planting and post-planting maintenance at each PEP site for 5 years. They would conduct different types of educational programmes and public participation activities to promote the benefits of PEP and the value of biodiversity to all sectors of the society.
Under the programme, AFCD will select suitable sites for NGO participation, arrange for first time thinning of exotic trees and provide native seedlings. NGOs will generally conduct public planting activities during spring time, and tree tending and site preparation works during autumn to winter.
