Eligible students are invited to apply for financial assistance under the Agricultural Products Scholarship Fund and Marine Fish Scholarship Fund.
The two funds, administered by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD), offer assistance to students in the form of scholarship, grants and interest-free loans.
Speaking on the scholarships today (Monday), a spokesman for the department said: "The funds, set up in 1978, serve to help those who wish to pursue a career in local agriculture and fisheries industries or related trades upon completion of studies.
"Those employed in the fields and wish to take further training may also apply," he added.
The award for tertiary education is tenable for a full-time degree or sub-degree at seven local universities funded by the University Grant Committee, the Hong Kong Institute of Education and other overseas institutions accepted under the scheme.
Applicants should have a right of abode, or have resided legally in Hong Kong continuously for three years immediately prior to the commencement of the courses they applied.
The spokesman noted that applicants may apply for courses on agriculture, veterinary science, fishery science, marine biology or other applied science subjects directly related to local agriculture and fisheries as well as the related trades.
Form four to form seven students or full-time students of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, whose family background are related to agricultural and fisheries production or marketing in Hong Kong, may apply for the scholarship offers for secondary education.
"It serves to provide financial assistance to children or dependents of farming and fishing families to complete their tertiary and secondary schooling," the spokesman added.
Application for tertiary and secondary education scholarships for the coming academic year will be closed on July 17 and August 18 respectively.
Late submission will not be accepted.
