Learn more about endangered species through Wetland Park exhibition
Friday, August 7, 2009
A thematic exhibition "The Protection of Endangered Species for Sustainable Use of Wetland Resources" will be held at the Hong Kong Wetland Park from tomorrow (August 8) until September 30 to enrich visitors' knowledge of endangered plants and animals living on wetlands and to enhance their awareness of the protection of endangered species.
The informative display panels at the exhibition will enable visitors to learn more about endangered species and their conservation status, as well as the impact on the species' survival by international trade. People will have the opportunity to appreciate the live species displayed such as spotted pond turtles, seahorses and various types of stony corals.
Video clips capturing the lives of endangered species will also be shown. Also on display will be the confiscated specimens and products derived from endangered species.
Visitors can take part in an orienteering game "Look for Endangered Species in Wetland" to search the Visitor Centre for endangered species and collect different stamps around the park as souvenirs during the exhibition period. For those with an artistic mind, the "Origami Workshop" and "Wetland Colouring Workshop" will allow visitors to capture the unique characteristics of selected endangered species including orchids, seahorses and sea turtles.
The winning entries of the "Endangered Species Protection 4-Panel Comic Drawing Competition" will be showcased at the park until August 23. Visitors are welcome to join the award presentation ceremony at 11am tomorrow at the theatre of the park.
