"Nature in Touch" Country Parks Education Programme launches
Friday, September 30, 2011

A spokesman for the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said today (September 30) that an array of activities under the "Nature in Touch" Country Parks Education Programme will be held from this October to March 2012.

The programme aims to promote a better understanding of country parks, biodiversity, conservation and ecological characteristics in Hong Kong with a view to enhancing public awareness of protecting the natural environment. The programme includes a series of countryside learning activities for students and nature appreciation activities for the general public and tourists visiting Hong Kong.

One of the key events will be the Fotomo design competition held in October. Fotomo is a three-dimensional art in which models are created by cutting and assembling layers of photos of a scene captured from various angles. It breaks the rules of two-dimensional images and gives viewers a fresher perspective. The competition aims to encourage the public to visit country parks and portray the most beautiful parts of the countryside through their creativity and imagination. Prior to the competition, workshops will be held for participants to learn more about Fotomo techniques.

Apart from the competition, the programme also offers a rich variety of activities for schools and the public including guided eco-tours, thematic field studies, site interpretation, workshops, roving exhibitions and fun fairs.
