Offshore fishing course for Hong Kong fishermen The first training course on offshore fishing for Hong Kong fishermen at the Ocean University of Qingdao was completed. Deputy Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Dr Liu Kwei-kin officiated at the graduation ceremony today (June 29). The Ocean University of Qingdao is renowned for its fisheries study. A total of 36 Hong Kong fishermen were subsidised by the Marine Fish Scholarship Fund to attend the 15-day course. The training course covered a number of topics including the special features of tuna, fishing method, location of fishing ground, production process and marketing of fisheries products. Dr Liu commended the participants for their dedication and desire to make progress. He hoped that they could apply the fishing techniques and opened a new page in the development of offshore fishing. |
