"A stern warning has been issued today to the three wholesalers who were found keeping fish in the typhoon shelter by hanging cages. The fish were destroyed.
"FMO also warned these wholesalers that if similar case happens again, they would not be allowed to continue trading in the wholesale market.
Under FMO's management, the wholesalers are required to install recirculatory filtration and disinfection facilities in their water tanks to meet the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department's licensing requirements. They are also prohibited from drawing water from the typhoon shelter for keeping fish.
FMO will step up patrol at the wholesale market to ensure that the wholesalers comply with the hygiene requirements.
