Expression of interest invited for management & operation of Wetland Park
Sunday, February 29, 2004

The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) invites groups to express their extent of interest in the management and operation of the Hong Kong Wetland Park.

Parties with relevant experience and expertise are welcome to submit their responses to the invitation for "Expression of Interest" (EOI) to the AFCD by noon on April 15, a spokesman for the AFCD said today (February 29).

"The Hong Kong Wetland Park is aimed to create a visitor attraction of international status, catering for local residents, mainland and overseas tourists and those with special interest in wildlife and ecology. The park is expected to attract some 540 000 visitors each year.

"The Wetland Park, to be built in two phases, is a millennium project designated by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. The phase 1 venue was open in 2000. Construction of phase 2 of the park is expected to be completed in late 2005," he said.

A briefing session will be organised by the AFCD for interested parties at the phase 1 venue of the Wetland Park on March 16. Those who want to join the briefing session should complete and send in a return slip by March 15.

The return slip, the EOI documents and related information can be downloaded from the website http://www.hkwetlandpark.net. The documents can also be collected from the AFCD on fifth floor, Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices, 303 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon.

For further enquiries, please fax to AFCD Senior Wetland Park Officer Mr Edmond Lam on (852) 2314 2802.
