Tenders invited for Wetland Park operation and management
Friday, December 24, 2004
The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) is inviting tenders for the operation and management of the Hong Kong Wetland Park.
A department spokesman said today (December 24) that parties with relevant experience and expertise could make submissions by noon on March 11, 2005.
The required services of the contract broadly cover five areas - exhibition management, facilities management and day-to-day operations, marketing, education, and habitat and wildlife management.
"The Government's objective is to identify a single contractor to undertake all the services. The contractor can be a single company, a joint venture or a consortium company," the spokesman said.
"While we welcome proposals in support of the full range of services, tenderers can also submit proposals in support of any one or more than one of the individual service areas," he said.
"It should however be noted that proposals for individual services will be considered only when a single contractor can not be successfully identified."
Tender forms and supplementary information are available on-line at www.hkwetlandpark.net.
Submissions should be addressed to the Chairman, Central Tender Board and placed in the Government Secretariat Tender Box situated in the lift lobby on the lower ground floor of the Central Government Offices, East Wing, before noon on March 11, 2005.
The objective of the Hong Kong Wetland Park is to create a visitor attraction of international status, catering for the locals and visitors alike to appreciate the wildlife and ecology of wetland. Its first phase has been opened to the public since December, 2000, serving as an early venue for publicity and promotion on wetland conservation.
The second phase, comprising a 10 000 square-metre visitor centre and a 60-hectare wetland reserve, is a new eco-tourism initiative to showcase the functions and values of wetlands.
The entire project is scheduled for completion in early 2006.
