Members appointed for Advisory Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries

The Government today (June 17) announced the new term of membership of the Advisory Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries (ACAF).
The appointments, with a term of two years starting from June 1, 2005 to May 31, 2007, were made by the Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food.
ACAF is a non-statutory body to advise the Government on matters pertaining to the development of local agriculture and fisheries industries, and the wholesale marketing of related products.
Speaking on the appointments, a spokesman of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said the total number of unofficial members had increased from 16 to 18 for the new term. "While six previous members remain in the Committee, the Chairman, Dr Wong Sze-chung, and eleven members are newly appointed," the spokesman said.
"The ACAF has a good mix of members coming from various sectors. It will be able to give useful and balanced views to the Government."
