Dead chicken and Japanese White-eye tested positive for H5N1
virus

The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said today
(February 10) that the dead chicken found in Tuen Mun and the Japanese
White-eye in Mong Kok were confirmed to be H5N1 positive after a series
of laboratory tests.
Following public referrals, the dead chicken was collected by AFCD staff
on February 4 near a lamp post at Wu Tai Circuit whereas the Japanese
White-eye was collected on February 6 at Diocesan Boy!|s School.
A department spokesman reminded the public to observe good personal hygiene.
"They should avoid personal contact with wild birds and live poultry
and clean their hands thoroughly after coming into contact with them,"
he said.
