Pui Pui to be seen in external pool
Tuesday, August 29, 2006
People could get their first glimpse of crocodile Pui Pui exploring its outdoor enclosure in the Hong Kong Wetland Park tomorrow, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said today (August 29).
A department spokesman said the crocodile had been released to the external pool to meet visitors to Hong Kong Wetland Park following an assessment by experts, but he cautioned that the crocodile might require more time to adapt to its new home and there was no need for people to rush to the park to see her.
"Pui Pui is here to stay and visitors are welcome to see her at their leisure," he said.
"They are also advised to watch Pui Pui quietly without causing undue disturbance, such as knocking on the glass panels."
The crocodile moved into the park two weeks ago where she was initially kept indoors for observation. Her 72-square-metre outdoor enclosure incorporating pool area is beautifully landscaped and equipped with infra-red heaters, a heat pad and a weighing scale.
