House Crow tested for H5 virus
Wednesday, June 13, 2007

Preliminary testing of a House Crow found in Sham Shui Po had indicated a suspected case of H5 avian influenza, a spokesman for the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said today (June 13), adding that further confirmatory tests were being conducted.

The carcass of the bird was collected by department staff at Sham Shui Po Sports Ground on June 11.

A department spokesman reminded people to observe good personal hygiene.

"They should avoid personal contact with wild birds and live poultry and wash their hands thoroughly after coming into contact with them," he said.
