Environment
 

Little cucumber likes warm environment with adequate sunlight. The ideal temperature for growing is 25℃ ~ 30℃. It grows best in thick layer of rich humus loamy soil with good drainage and a pH value between 6.0-6.8.

Chinese white cabbage (dark leaf) likes warm climate. It can stand hot and humid weather. The ideal temperature for growing is 20℃ ~ 30℃. It grows best in rich humus loamy soil with good drainage and a pH value between 6.0-7.0.

Leaf beet likes warm weather. It can stand hot but not cold weather. It grows best in rich humus loamy soil with good drainage. 

Planting

Both direct sowing and transplanting are suitable.

Plant spacing should be about 60 cm x 120 cm in one single row.

Plant thinning should be conducted at about 10 days after direct sowing.

Plant spacing should be about 7 cm - 10 cm.

Application
of Fertilizer

Basal dressing: 1000 kg compost, or peanut cake and bone meal each 90 kg to each d.c. Apply top dressing when female flowers blossom. Add peanut cake and bone meal each about 25 grams to the side of each plant. One month later, apply the second top dressing with double amount of fertilizer.

Top dressing: apply 45 kg of peanut cake to each d.c. when seedlings come to three or four true leaves.

Others

When the plant grows up to 40cm, support it with a bamboo frame. Remove the lateral vine and all the fruits down from the 12th node of the main vine. During the growing period, appropriate soil moisture should be kept. Intertilled weeding and earthing up should be conducted, and excessive vines and leaves should be trimmed. The small fruits should be hung in a vertical position.

Intertilled weeding and earthing up should be done to facilitate plant growing.

Take heed of the harvest period for leaf beet grows quickly.

Harvesting

The fruits are ready for harvesting when they measure about 13-15 cm long. The cucumbers are ready for first harvesting after 50 days from sowing. The harvest period will last up to two months.

When the cabbage comes into 5 to 6 leaves, it can be harvested. It takes about 30 to 35 days from sowing to harvesting.
