Everything about nature is grand and wondrous. To encourage the general public to appreciate the different aspects of nature, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and 46 organisations, including government departments, tertiary institutions, non-governmental organisations and the business sector, jointly organised the Hong Kong Biodiversity Festival 2019 (HKBF2019) under the theme “Savouring Nature Up-close”. HKBF 2019 featured about 150 fun-filled activities, including workshops, exhibitions, film appreciation activities and visits. These activities encouraged the public to embark on a journey of ecological exploration.
The "Savouring Nature" Exhibition was one of the highlighted activities that showcased more than 200 local wildlife specimens to give the general public unrivalled access to the wonders of Hong Kong's biodiversity through close observation.
@Conservation Walk Programme
Another highlighted activity was the @Conservation Walk programme in which experienced conservationists in the roles of Heavyweight Tour Guides guided the general public to rehabilitating remote villages, wetlands, wild animal rescue centres and more to show them the conservation work and achievements of various conservation groups.
