Scheduled Species

What are protected under the Ordinance?

Manufactured Products

Any products which are made from endangered species, such as sea turtle shell ornaments/spectacles, crocodile or lizard skin handbags/belts/shoes, ivory and hippo teeth carvings, are controlled by the Ordinance.

Exemptions from licensing requirements are provided for "personal effects" of manufactured product which is a personal property. However, the exemption does not include personal effects which were acquired by a person outside his country/region of usual residence and are being imported into that country/region. Therefore, souvenirs bought by a tourist on trip in a foreign country are not exempt from licensing requirements. In the case of worked ivory, it is subject to a further weight limitation of :
• not more than one kilogram (1 kg) in the case of import
• not more than five kilograms (5 kg) in the case of export or possession.
Moreover, there is no exemption provided for products made from rhino and bears, including giant panda.
