Horseshoe crabs in Hong Kong

What are the major threats to our horseshoe crabs?

Our horseshoe crabs face similar threats as their friends in other areas do. The threats include:

1. Horseshoe crabs were over-harvested for food, fertilizer and fish bait (by Mike Millard).

   Coastal development which causes loss of spawning and nursery grounds;
2. Pollution which results in lower reproduction and survival rate;
3. Over-harvesting of the animal for food, especially for their eggs.
