Introduction

What is beneath the "helmet" of horseshoe crabs? Where are their mouth and eyes?

Under the "helmet" are jointed legs, mouth and gills in the form of 5 overlaid flaps. The mouth is at the center, surrounded by 6 pairs of jointed legs. The eyes are compound eyes, located on the top of the dorsal front part of the "helmet".
