What happens if a horseshoe crab is overturned?

A horseshoe crab is using its long tail to overturn itself.

If a horseshoe crab gets upside down in surf and gets stranded on a beach, it uses the long tail to turn over. However, if it can't turn over quickly, it will dry up and subsequently die.
