How large can they grow?

A newly hatched horseshoe crab is about 0.5 cm in length and width. After molting for about 17 times (at about age 10), they reach sexual maturity at a length of more than 40 cm and a prosoma (i.e. upper carapace) width of more than 20 cm. The largest horseshoe crab (Tachypleus tridentatus) recorded in our study period was 36 cm wide and more than 50 cm long.
