  • The site has recorded 51 globally threatened species and near-threatened bird species of which 5 are critically endangered while 6 are endangered.
  • The site is the type locality for 13 species of invertebrates. 
  • Deep Bay supports on average 50,000-80,000 waterbirds in winter.
  • The site regularly holds over 1% of the global or regional populations of Black-faced Spoonbill (Platalea minor), Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) and Pied Avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta).
