... 漁農自然護理署自 1996 年推行人工魚礁計劃。此計劃旨在增加漁業資源、重建受破壞的生境、保護產卵和育苗場及海洋保護區；及改善平坦海床的生境質素。人工魚礁被公認能促進大量不同種類的海洋生物的繁殖和生長，這些海洋生物又會為魚類提供食物、保護和藏身的地方。敷設人工魚礁是其中一個有效促進漁業資源方法，尤其適用於大部分香港水域中較為平坦的海床生境，因這些海床生境限制了岩礁魚類的數量和種類。水底監察調查結果顯示，人工魚礁較天然岩岸區孕育更多種類及數量的魚類，至今已錄得超過200種魚類運用了魚礁作為覓食、棲息、產卵及育苗的地方，其中包括高商業價值的品種，如石斑、笛鯛及細鱗等。...
