Romer's Tree Frog (Liuixalus romeri) is the smallest amphibian among the frog and toad species recorded in Hong Kong. Its average body length ranges from 1.5 cm to 2.5 cm, with females having larger body sizes.

All digits of the frog have small suction discs, which can allow the frog to suck on tree branches or leaves.

Its body is tan brown above, with an "X-like" marking on the back.

Adults feed on small arthropods such as termites. They are predominantly nocturnal but sometimes also active during the daytime.

Breeding season is from early March to September. They breeds in fishless, oligotrophic, shaded, still or slow-flowing waters. Males emit a metallic cricket-like mating call to attract females.

Tadpoles are free swimming and metamorphosis is completed in 4 to 5 weeks.
