Non-Governmental Organisations participated in PEP

Since 2016, 8 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have participated in the Country Parks Plantation Enrichment Programme (PEP) and about 38 hectares of plantations have been adopted for biodiversity enhancement. The NGOs are committed to taking up site preparation, tree planting and tree tending works at each PEP site for 5 years. They would conduct different types of educational programmes and public participation activities to promote the benefits of PEP and the value of biodiversity to all sectors of the society.

Under the programme, AFCD will select suitable sites, arrange for first-time thinning of exotic trees and provide native tree seedlings to participating NGOs. They generally conduct public planting activities in spring, and tree tending and site preparation works from autumn to winter.
